“You fight for France? Fight for him…”

In Paris, 1942, an Algerian boy is shot by the police, igniting terror, protest, and violence. His brother takes his body to an unknown address, where members of the French Resistance begin to try to save his life. But as they work, tensions boil over, and there may be more at stake than just his life – especially when the Nazis begin to close in. As death, detection and betrayal draw closer, it becomes clear that they may lose more than just the boy. Books Burning is a sizzling, pressure-cooker work of drama, set against the urgent backdrop of occupied Paris.

“[Bruno Magnanti] has a great ear for very playable dialogue…displays an outstanding playwriting craft…this is always nothing less than enjoyable and engaging.” – Mark Ravenhill
