HER
COUNTRY

27TH - 30TH JANUARY

£10/£12

7:00PM

Part of Write Club Festival 2025

Personal struggles collide with national crisis in an exploration of divided Britain.

Her Country is Craig Henry’s latest play about four young people navigating the early stages of their careers during a time of national upheaval. A librarian in Yorkshire searching for love, a civil servant trying to find his way in Whitehall, and two journalists battling for a full-time job—each facing personal and professional struggles while living through the chaos of 2015/16.

Set against the backdrop of Brexit, the 2015 general election, and the tragic murder of Jo Cox, the play explores how these events shape the characters’ lives, forcing them to question their choices and their place in a divided society.

With humour, honesty, and sensitivity, Her Country paints a picture of a nation at a crossroads, where the personal and the political collide in unexpected ways.

This production is the outcome of an Arts Council funded Research and Development project in July 2024.
